2008 Annual Membership Meeting
CONCERT ASSOCIATIONS RECIPROCITY LIST for 2008-2009
Several Concert Associations around Southern California have joined together in a Reciprocity Agreement through which the members of the various associations may have the opportunity to visit other Associations and attend their concerts by making arrangements in advance, showing their Season Membership Card or Ticket for their own Association, and attending some of the concerts of our sister (or brother) Associations. Click Here to get detailed information on the concert offerings for some of the other Associations in the Reciprocity group and how to contact them to reserve a seat(s) for a particular concert. Mailings for Season Ticket Renewals for the 2008-09 Season have been mailed to the existing
membership. We ask that you return your Renewal requests with payment as soon as possible after receiving them.
Please NOTE: If you pay with a credit card, your payment will not be processed by the IWVCA until October 2008
as that is when we rent the processing machine from the bank. Please bear with us as we try to provide you with the best
service possible within our financial restraints.
If you are not already a member of the IWVCA and would like to join for this upcoming season, please
call the Concert Line at 760-375-5600 and leave your name, phone number, how many tickets you want,
and any other information you feel is pertinent, such as if any one in your party is handicapped and
needs any special accomodations such as an aisle seat, for example. You may also call our President,
Alice Martin, at 760-375-8223 to rquest to be placed on the New Members Request Listing. Sometime after
the first of September 2008, NEW season ticket requests will begin to be processed for any seating still
available. Requests will be accomodated, when possible, in the order in which they are received.
Have Season Tickets but can't attend a particular concert??? Please call 760-375-5600 (the Concert Line) or e-mail the IWVCA at iwvca@hotmail.com as soon as you know you won't be attending a particular concert and release your seats for that particular concert. Your IWVCA will happily send you a tax receipt for your seat(s) donation. Thank you in advance for being thoughtful and assuring that the IWVCA can accomodate additional patrons when you can't attend a concert.

| ITALIAN SAXOPHONE QUARTET | A Classically oriented group playing a wide-ranging repertoire with verve. The ITALIAN SAXOPHONE QUARTET was founded in 1982, bringing together four of the most acclaimed soloists in their fielf. They won several chamber music competition, including First Prize in the "Phoenix Ancoma" and have given hundreds of concerts worldwide, including the USA, Japan, Lebanon, and throughout Europe. With dazzling virtuosity, panache, and charisma, the ISQ plays repertoire from Scarlatti to Scott Joplin, Bach to Piazzolla, Glazunov to Greek dances, even Nino Rota's beloved Fellini film score music. They are equally at home in front of classical or "pop" audiences. | BELLA SORELLA, Vocal Duo with Piano & Violin | Nova and Susanna Jimenez (sopranos) and Shinobu Kameyama (pianist) comprise the award-winning soprano ensemble BELLA SORELLA (meaning "beautiful sister"). The group performs classical operatic and contemporary musical styles in melodic and powerful duets - creating a mix they call "Popera." Their unique music, angelic sound, beauty, charm, and remarkable personal story have earned them acclaim throughout California and abroad. Their repertoire spans seven languages, more than 300 years, and much of the globe. A violinist has recently joined the group, adding more sonic richness. | ALL AMERICAN BOYS CHORUS | Some 36 choristers (ages 9-14) are joined together in THE ALL-AMERICAN BOYS CHORUS, one ofthe world's most widely traveled groups of its type. They have presented concerts in the grand halls in Vienna, Moscow, and Rome, as well as in many Canadian and Asian venues, along with numerous appearances in leading U.S. auditoriums, fairs, and festivals. More than one million people have attended their live concerts. In addition to traditional boy-choir repertoire, the boys present a wonderful "SALUTE TO AMERICA'S MUSIC," which includes music from 8roadway musicals to jazz and popular music from past eras and regions, along with rousing patriotic selections in a tribute to John Philip Sousa and the U.S. Armed Forces - plus more! | TERESA WALTERS, Classical Pianist | TERESA WALTERS is described by Austrian National Television as "one of the world's most significant pianists." The Washington Post writes: "Her hands create cascades of luminescence." "Marvelous! As close to perfect as I hope to hear," wrote The Jerusalem Post. "The audience left with a feeling of ecstasy. so spiritually powerful was her performance," wrote Japan's Ongaku No Torno. Her recital at Lincoln Center earned a standing ovation from a capacity crowd. When her latest CD was nominated for the Grand Prix du Disque, the Budapest Sun wrote: "Her fingers give off sparks and she takes the keyboard into orbit." | "AN EVENING WITH GROUCHO" starring Frank Ferrante as Groucho Marx | FRANK FERRANTE recreates his New York. London. and PBS triumph as the legendary GROUCHO MARX in his fastpaced comedy packed with songs, stories, and inspired audience interaction. Groucho Marx is today considered the father of modern comedy, whose influence continues to this day. Irreverence, satire, social commentary - filtered through ingenious physicality and wordplay - are hallmarks of Groucho's humor. Collaborating with the Marx family for over two decades, Frank Ferrante (performing with a pianist as his accomplice) portrays Groucho in a hilariously entertaining show. | BARYNYA, Russian Folk Music & Dance Group | Under the direction of MIKHAIL SMIRNOff, this ensemble of 12 musicians, singers, and dancers will present a dazzling program of Russian folk dances and music. BARYNYA plays traditional Russian instruments such as balalaika, contrabass balalaika, garmoshka, gusli, lozhki, kugikly, domra, bayan, treshotki, and vertushky. The group performs in colorful stage costumes: "sarafans," "rubashkas," "sapogis," and "kosovorotkas." Various ethnicities within Russia are included, along with a humorous explanation for every piece. Some local dance and music students will be invited to participate. The 2008-09 62nd Season of the IWVCA will run from
October 2008 through April 2009. All Concerts are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM. in the Burroughs Parker
Performing Arts Center Auditorium at Burroughs High School on French Street here in Ridgecrest, CA. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Please leave home early enough to park and still get into the theater well before 7:30 PM. To accomodate patrons who still need to purchase Single-Event Concert tickets or have other questions or problems, the Box Office will open at 6:30 PM.
Concerts are subject to change of location, date, or artist if circumstances should dictate. In such case, subscribers will be notified by e-mail, notice on the Concert Line (760-375-5600), mailed Notice (if there is sufficient time), Notices posted on this web site, or notices in the media. If you have an e-mail address, please assure that it is made available to the IWVCA so that you can receive notices of importance/interest to the membership.

Single-event tickets (unreserved seats) will be sold on a space-available basis, starting about ten days before each event. Single prices for all concerts will be $22 each (general admission), or $18 each to the reduced-rate categories. For patrons who did not purchase their single-event ticket(s) in advance, the Box Office at the Parker Performing Arts Center, Burroughs High School, will open at 6:30 PM on the night of the concert. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and concerts begin at 7:30 PM.
